Frequently in Gothic & Lolita Bible and models for Angelic Pretty, merchen kei (or fairytale kei) band Kokushoku Sumire formed in 2004 in Tokyo and first performed at a Etsuko Miura doll exhibition in May of that year. They were then were guests at Maria Cuore doll museum in Shibuya in July and played at various live houses/events such as Shinjuku Marz and Aoi Heya "Bar LOLITA vol. 8".

They released their first CD + DVD, "Zenmai Shoujo Hako Ningyou" in September of that year and followed it up with a live in Shinjuku NOIZ, and appearances and performances at Maria Cuore, TakeOff7 "in the City2004 Label Event", a Gothic & Lolita Bible sponsored tea party, and a fashion show sponsored by ROCOCO, amongst others.

2005 saw yet more lives and appearances for the band. They appeared at The Candy Spooky Theater’s "Party Monsters Collection 01" event in February, Tokyo Dark Castle at Shibuya DeSeO and "Torture Garden" at Roppongi CLUB SPIRAL, "Darkside Nonfiction" at Takadanobaba AREA NOIZ and "Madame de Pompadour" at Daikan’yama AMARANTH Lounge in March. They also played a live that was limited to just20 people in April and continued to perform through the rest of the year in places such as Takadanobaba CLUB PHASE, TRICK OR TREAT, Shinjuku Luft Schloss, Nagoya Angelic Pretty tea party event, Yokohama CLUB24 and Osaka Eikokuya fairy tale tea party event. Sachi also began her solo project in this year.

The band released their first full-length album, "Anderu Meruhen Kakokyusho", in 2006 and Yuka began her own solo project as well. They remain the "face" of Angelic Pretty and still play lives often, whether it be as Kokusyoku Sumire or as solo artists.
